Our family of 4
immigrated to Canada in 1979 from Germany.
We first settled in incredible Lions Bay, Howe Sound,
Vancouver. Here we established a
successful interior design business.
In 1989, it was time
for a change. We moved to Penticton and bought a 115 acre
piece of forgotten land above Skaha Lake. After a major
clean up, we started designing, building, and creating our
great dream vision: God’s Mountain Crest Chalet, Bed and
Breakfast, Vineyard above Skaha Lake.
In the 17 years of
running this unique tourist attraction, we had established a
broad loyal base of international guests, local families,
KVR Bicycle Tours and Individual European Self Drive
Traveling Clientele. Besides individual tourist, we also
catered to many weddings, corporate conferences and social
parties or meetings. Dozens of worldwide travel writers
covered our story, an out of the ordinary, eclectic
hospitality concept, a very special space we had developed.
In 2005, a long time
customer took over, so giving us the freedom to look for a
new challenge. We found it in the South Okanagan Back
Country at Anarchist Summit.
We have embarked on an
invigorating journey in the bush; re-starting on 500 acres
of untouched rolling mountain hills. When we bought the
property, it was the Wild West: a broken down old barn, no
phone/computer, no water, no electricity, no driveway, no
house, not even a small dog house. To get started with
nothing, on top of the mountain, we had to make some very
important and instant decisions.
This was not a new,
fenced, gated, easy and convenient retirement community. At
an elevation of 1360 meters, being high above HWY 3, @
Anarchist Summit, there was no connection to any service,
one does expect as now being retired.
Roads were put in,
designs were conceived, a log builder contracted, wells were
drilled, and a solar system with batteries and inverter was
installed. So we do have power, completely off grid, WIFI/VOIP
and SHAW Satellite TV. As it stands today, 4 years later, we
came along way, since coming up here.
The New Grand Lodge,
not finished yet, draws already a lot of attention. Our
first straw-bale guest chalet is completed, ready to welcome
discerning individuals or groups, to explore our down to
earth comfortable country inn. Do come up here, I will give
you a tour and will gladly share with you our design ideas,
implementing a hybrid straw-bale construction concept.
To achieve a rustic,
back to nature, but inviting ambiance, we were blending
conventional building methods with massive log posts, beams
and straw-bales, to design and create Almighty Summit
Estate.
The tranquility, peace and unmatched scenery at our mountain
peak chalet, with incredible 360* open valley and mountain
views, is absolutely stunning.
